The daily puzzle changes at 00:00 UTC. Practice offers another word without changing daily statistics or streaks. If you return to an unfinished earlier daily puzzle, the game lets you continue it and provides a separate option to open today’s puzzle.

How many guesses do I get?
You have six guesses to find a five-letter word.
What do green, yellow and gray mean?
Green confirms a letter and its position. Yellow confirms a letter in another position. Gray means there is no remaining copy of that letter in the hidden word.
Can I play another word?
Yes. Practice mode offers additional rounds without affecting your daily statistics.
Does a word rejected by the dictionary use a guess?
No. An incomplete entry or a word outside the accepted list is rejected before a guess is recorded. Edit the entry and submit another five-letter word.
Are these the New York Times daily answers?
No. This is the independent FoolFish word game with its own curated answer pool. This page explains its rules and practice mode, not New York Times daily answers.
Can I change the clue colors?
Yes. The game’s Settings include a high-contrast blue/orange palette and reduced motion. The letter-position rules remain the same.
