About Factory Idle

Play Factory Idle online free. Build a six-tier idle factory, balance production inputs, unlock research and reset for Schematics, Patents and Legacy Marks.

How to play Factory Idle

Click or tap MINE to collect ore. Buy a Drill for 10 ore to start automatic production.

Balance the six-tier chain: ore → ingots → parts → circuits → cores → prototypes. Higher tiers consume the previous resource; a missing input throttles output. Machine prices rise with the number owned.

Prestige when its displayed reward is worthwhile. It clears current resources, machines, supports and auto-buy switches, while keeping research, Schematics and tier unlocks. Unlock tiers 2–6 for 6, 30, 120, 500 and 2,500 Schematics.

Produce at least one Prototype to Publish for Patents. Publish also resets Schematics, the research tree and tier unlocks; permanent Patent levels and Legacy upgrades remain.

Choose researched automation and bulk buying, optional Challenges and per-run Blueprint modifiers. At 30 lifetime Patents, complete Exhibitions for Legacy Marks and buy Archive upgrades.

Drag or pinch the research tree; on touch, tap a node once to arm it and again to confirm. Long-press a machine for details. Save keeps the full factory; guest progress stays in this browser, signed-in FoolFish sessions can sync account checkpoints. Offline production starts with an eight-hour cap, extended by unlocked permanent bonuses. Single player only.

Play Factory Idle online

Play Factory Idle online free. Build a six-tier idle factory, balance production inputs, unlock research and reset for Schematics, Patents and Legacy Marks. This factory game starts with manual collection and grows into a connected manufacturing economy. The whole production chain runs locally in your browser; there are no online opponents, paid boosts or real-world payouts.

Factory Idle presents the workshop as an engineering sheet, with a drafting grid, machine diagrams and live input/output totals. It is a resource-pool factory game: materials feed later tiers through the economy, rather than through player-drawn conveyor routes.

How to start: collect ore and buy your first machine

Each starting MINE click adds three ore. The first Drill costs 10 ore and makes one ore per second before research bonuses. Additional machines increase production, but each type has its own rising price. A second basic machine can be affordable well before a higher-output model.

The buy-mode bar starts with single purchases. Research unlocks larger bulk purchases, maximum buying, automatic purchases and automatic collection. On a touchscreen, long-press a machine to inspect it and use the buy-mode buttons instead of desktop modifier keys.

Build a balanced six-tier production chain

The material order is ore → ingots → parts → circuits → cores → prototypes. Smelting, fabrication, assembly and the later refining stages consume the material produced before them. A faster downstream machine will not run at full speed if its inputs are missing; the factory marks the bottleneck and reduces its actual output.

The first processing stages use three input units per output before efficiency research. Consumption and production upgrades have separate effects, so compare both sides of a new purchase. Keep the earlier tiers strong enough to support the later ones, and watch the live net rates instead of assuming that the most expensive machine is always the best next buy.

The complete machine roster contains 28 models. MK-IV and MK-V machines are research unlocks; they are not separate game modes or real-money purchases. Power Nodes and Boost Relays improve the existing factory according to their displayed effects.

Research, Schematics and Prestige

The research sheet contains 61 nodes across six branches. It begins with one welcome Schematic, letting you inspect and begin the tree before the first reset. Unlock successive production tiers with 6, 30, 120, 500 and 2,500 Schematics; researching an output bonus does not automatically buy a locked tier.

Prestige banks the shown Schematic reward, then clears resources, machines, supports and automatic-buy switches. Your research levels, unspent Schematics, tier unlocks and longer-term progress remain. The gain is calculated from weighted resources produced during the run, not just the amount left in storage.

Research can improve throughput, consumption, clicking, support effects and automation. Drag the sheet to pan and use the wheel or pinch gesture to zoom. Touch research uses tap-to-arm followed by a second tap to confirm the purchase.

Produce a Prototype and Publish for Patents

The sixth tier makes the first Prototype. When at least one is available, Publish becomes a second reset layer. The original base reward starts at two Patents for one finished unit and grows with the amount produced; later bonuses and the soft cap are shown by the game.

Publish clears the current workshop, Schematics, research-tree levels, production-tier unlocks and epoch progression. Patent upgrades and Legacy upgrades persist. The Mastery area contains 21 Patent upgrades, providing permanent improvements such as faster openings and automation for future runs.

Read the confirmation before either reset. Prestige and Publish have different kept and wiped ledgers; neither is the same as Reset Game in Settings, which clears the whole factory.

Challenges, Blueprint modifiers and the Archive

The 14 Challenges use existing restrictions and rewards. For example, Tall caps each machine type at three, while Echo gives each type a five-second purchase cooldown. These are optional runs, not extra rules silently applied to the normal factory.

After the third Prestige, the game can offer a choice of per-run Blueprint modifiers. There are 15 existing modifiers, including starter-material grants and production/consumption trade-offs. Choosing a Blueprint can change how you build that run, so read its stated effect before selecting it.

Exhibitions unlock at 30 lifetime Patents. Complete their actual run conditions and Prestige to earn the original one Legacy Mark. Eight Exhibition goals feed ten Archive upgrades that persist through both Prestige and Publish. Achievements and the Stats area track additional production milestones and history.

Save your factory and return for offline production

The full checkpoint includes all six materials, every machine, supports, research, Patent and Legacy levels, selected Challenge and Blueprint, Exhibition goals, achievements, settings and chart history. Live temporary-event deadlines are saved together, so reloading does not reroll or silently drop an active boost.

Guest saves stay in this browser. Sign in on FoolFish before opening the game for account checkpoints across devices. If two devices have different progress, use Save and explicitly choose which complete factory to keep. The standard and Fish games use separate save slots.

On returning, the factory applies its existing offline production method, capped at eight hours before permanent extensions. It simulates the elapsed period through the resource chain in order; this is a catch-up calculation, not a replay of every offline animation. The game must first be loaded in the browser; this release does not install a standalone PWA.

Settings retain sound volume, mute, font scaling from 100% to 150%, reduced motion and a colorblind palette. Export Save produces a personal backup for this version; importing or clearing progress requires the game’s visible confirmation flow.

Common questions

Is Factory Idle free to play?

Yes. This is a single-player browser factory game with no paid boosts, purchases or online opponents.

Why is a machine not producing at its full rate?

A later tier consumes earlier materials. When one input runs short, the factory throttles the machine and displays the bottleneck. Improve upstream supply or reduce consumption.

What survives Prestige?

Research, Schematics and tier unlocks remain. Current materials, machines, supports and auto-buy switches reset. Patent and Legacy upgrades also remain.

What is the difference between Prestige and Publish?

Prestige awards Schematics and keeps the research tree. Publish becomes available after at least one Prototype, awards Patents, and also clears Schematics, research-tree levels and tier unlocks. Permanent Patent and Legacy upgrades remain.

Does the factory progress while I am away?

Yes. The existing offline catch-up applies production with a base cap of eight hours. Some permanent upgrades extend that limit. Inputs and production bonuses still follow the native factory rules.

Does Fish Factory use different production rules?

No. The two editions share the same economy, prices, upgrades, Challenges, modifiers and reset layers. Only the theme, displayed material names and machine artwork differ.
