About Ludo

Play Ludo online for free against the computer or share one device with friends. Choose two or four players, roll a six to enter, capture opposing tokens and race all four pieces home. Safe squares, exact home rolls and bonus turns make each move matter. This edition follows a paced offline dice system.

How to play Ludo

Choose Play computer or Play with friends, select 2 or 4 players and pick a colour. Roll six to enter a token. Then click a glowing token or its numbered move button to advance by the die.

Coloured starts and stars are safe. Landing on one opposing token elsewhere sends it back to its yard. You cannot land on two opposing tokens together, but you may pass occupied squares.

A six, a capture or getting a token home earns another roll. You need the exact number to finish. Get all four home first; four-player games continue to decide the remaining places.

This offline edition uses paced dice: same-colour ordinary-square stacking rolls are filtered, a third consecutive six is prevented, and long waits for six are limited. These are not independent physical dice odds.

Hint suggests a token. Use a mouse, touch, or Tab and Enter. Your board and current die save in this browser. Sign in on FoolFish before opening the game for account checkpoints. Friends mode is on one device; there is no remote matchmaking.

Play free Ludo online with 2 or 4 players

Ludo is a dice-and-token race on a cross-shaped board. Each player has four pieces, a starting yard and a coloured home lane. Choose Play computer for a solo game or Play with friends to take turns on the same screen. Select two or four players, pick a colour and start. The chosen starting colour rolls first. There is no download, entry fee or remote matchmaking in this edition.

Use safe squares and choose your captures

The four coloured starting squares and the four stars protect every token standing on them. On an ordinary square, landing on one opposing token sends it back to its yard, where it needs another six to enter. You cannot land on a pair of opposing tokens together. Occupied squares may be passed: this version does not use path-blocking walls. Before leaving a safe square, look at which opponents are close behind.

Bring all four tokens home

After completing the circuit, each token enters its own coloured home lane. The final move needs the exact number: a roll that would overshoot cannot move that token. Spreading your tokens across different distances can give you more useful choices near the end. The first player with all four home takes first place. In a four-player game, play continues until the remaining places are decided.

Understand this version’s dice rules

This browser edition follows the reference game’s paced offline dice system. Results that would create a same-colour stack on an ordinary track square are filtered, while safe squares remain available. Two consecutive sixes are followed by a non-six, and the generator limits long waits for a six. Computer players have their own pacing. These outcomes should not be treated as independent rolls of a physical die, and changing the visual theme does not change the system.

Learn a move and return to your game

Hint highlights a suggested token when several moves are possible. Use a mouse or touch, or navigate buttons with Tab and activate them with Enter. The game saves the board, current die and pending step in this browser, so refreshing does not reroll an unfinished turn. Sign in on FoolFish before opening the game for account checkpoints. If devices disagree, Save options lets you choose which checkpoint to keep.

Common questions

Can I play Ludo with friends?

Yes. Two or four people can take turns on one device. This release does not connect remote players or create online rooms.

Why do I need an exact roll to finish?

A token cannot move past its final home space. Choose another legal token or pass if none can use the roll.

Can a token be captured on a star?

No. Stars and coloured starting squares are safe, even when different colours share them.

Are all dice outcomes equally likely?

No. This version uses paced offline dice with stacking filters, consecutive-six limits and long-wait protection. The in-game rules explain this behaviour.
